The Laboratory of Transplantation Immunobiology (L.I.T) was created in August 2005 within the Department of Immunology, at the Institute of Biomedical Sciences IV, at the University of Sao Paulo. The group started with the primary objective of studying the immunological factors that adversely affect the survival of organ transplant recipients. Within this context, the team of researchers and collaborators started to evaluate different kidney diseases from an immunological point of view. We also try to identify their physiopathological mechanisms and new therapeutic approaches to improve the outcomes. The research is based on experimental models in mice and zebrafish, using platforms to access the immune system function, metabolism, and microbiota within different contexts.
